life is simple

September 18, 2010

Although sometimes life feels very complicated, it’s not.  Not really.

The real things are simple.

Here are my two newest favourite reminders that life is simple:

this tweet from Amy Krouse Rosenthal

and this mini-poster (via Karen on posterous via Kristin):

What do you do when life feels overwhelmingly complicated?

What reminds you to slow down and appreciate simple pleasures?

What are your simple pleasures?

What do you do when life feels overwhelmingly complicated?

Honestly? Alcohol, cry, call on my BFF’s to gather support and energy.

What reminds you to slow down and appreciate simple pleasures?

Nature—my daughter, my husband, plants, the sun, a strong windstorm but the strongest is a clear night when I see all those stars and reminded that I am a small part of a humungous (sp) glorious picture.

    What are your simple pleasures?

All three of my family sitting quietly together and reading. Walking on curbs as if they are balance beams. Riding on shopping carts. Walking and talkin with my BFF Bridget. Eating chocolate. Throwing around weights in the gym. Laughing at stupid jokes. Drinking a beer and letting a really loud, earth-shattering burp ring.

    Yes, yes, YES!

Thank you, Kim. For your honesty, and your courage, and your friendship. That is exactly what I was doing when I called the other day – gathering support and energy, and you gave those in spades.

I abso-fuckin-lutely love the image of you walking on curbs as if they are balance beams. Next walk, let’s do that together. And skip. And burp.
